Training Classes



We offer Beginner to Masters level agility classes as well as obedience classes. We always have a high demand for our Introduction to Agility class. All training classes are taught at our West Ashley Training Field. For directions, please click the link below.

Monday

Intro to Obedience, 6:00 - 7:00pm (FULL)
This class is for dogs and handlers that want to work on basic obedience skills (sit, down, heel, come, stay). No previous obedience training is necessary. This class will be taught outdoors on the main agility field. This is not a class for reactive or aggressive dogs. Dogs must be friendly with people and other dogs.

Agility Foundation Skills I, 7:15 - 8:15pm (FULL)

This class will focus on agility foundation skills, including: training games, body awareness, impulse control, distraction training, restrained recalls, handling on the flat/turning cues, obstacle commitment, focus forward skills, and puppy jumping skills/grids. As this is a foundation class, limited equipment will be used.

What to bring each week?
- A crate (wire is best, but cloth will work)
- A yoga mat
- AWESOME TREATS (treats must be able to be seen if thrown into the grass and must not crumble - things like string cheese (cut it up before you come to class), thawed frozen cheese tortellini, chicken chunks, etc.)
- Toys! (not balls - toys should not roll away)
- A great attitude and a sense of humor!
- All dogs must be on a flat buckle collar or wear a harness - NO prong or choke collars, or flexi leashes allowed.

Tuesday

Jokers Wild, 7:00 - 8:00pm (FULL)
This class is instructor's choice! Handling, distance, skills & drills and USDAA agility games! Join the class fun with Randy.

Masters Agility Handling, 8:15 - 9:15pm (FULL)

This class is intended to challenge masters-level teams with courses that require the handler to think about the most efficient and comprehensive path for the dog. Each class will allow teams to run full courses of both Jumpers and Standard style courses, with the option to also practice skills used in games classes such as Gamblers and Snooker.

Wednesday


Intro to Agility, 7:15 - 8:45pm (FULL)
This class is designed for handlers to learn how to teach new behaviors, enhance their relationship with their dog, and encourage their dog to be an active, engaged learner. Dog and handler teams will also learn the basic commands for and how to negotiate the agility obstacles. All ages are welcome at this level and individual needs will be considered. The goal is for the canine partner to learn how to negotiate most obstacles on their own.

Thursday

Starters/Advanced Handling, 7:00 - 8:00pm (FULL)
Class focuses on developing course analysis skills, exploring different handling techniques, and perfecting the handling skills best suited for the team. Course sequences will prepare you for starters classes with some advanced sequencing. Dogs must be able to perform all the obstacles independently (or approved by instructors).

Basic Handling, 8:15 - 9:15pm (FULL) (recommended for people who just completed Intro)

This class will focus on handling skills that are needed to be successful in agility. You will likely use these skills for your entire agility career. We will be learning basic handling moves in small sequences with just jumps and tunnels.

Intro to Trialing, 9:30 - 10:30am

This class will focus on the different games played in USDAA as well as some handling,  It is open to everyone that can perform all obstacles.
